Holiday De"Lights" #SPiTChallenge

I found some unwanted and unloved wine glasses, mason jars and a set of old light fixture globes at the Thrift Store a while back. They sat unloved for a while until I decided they would be perfect little holiday accents around the home. I knew my Unicorn SPiT gel stain and glaze was just the magic wand.
I applied Modge Podge to my unloved pieces and baked them in the oven for about 10 minutes at 220 degrees and then allowed them to cool.
As the glass pieces cooled. I selected various colors of Unicorn SPiT perfect for my Holiday De"Lights." I wanted a few different styles. The red and white wine glasses would become Poinsettia style.
I turned the glass upside down and with a syringe, I applied several oval shaped blobs of stain athe the stem. The stain will push its self down the glass. The more you apply the farther down it seeps. I the applied the red in between each white section and allow it to slide down the glass. Then I went back in and added the opposite color to each stain section to create a layered effect. One set I sprayed with water to allow the colors to move farther down the glass, spread and blend. The other set I didn't spray so the colors didn't move as much and created a crisper image.
This is the candy cane style using White Ning, Molly Red Pepper and finally Dragon's Belly green. I used the same techniques as the Poinsettia style glasses but then took a piece of wet plastic wrap and wrapped it around the glass and lightly pressed the plastic to glass. The Unicorn SPiT immediately spreads and marbles together. Gently peel the plastic away and voila!
You can choose so many different colors and color combinations and no two would ever be exactly identical. The final set, I chose White Ning and Blue Thunder. Ooh-la-la!

Allow the Stain to dry. You can place it in the oven for 5-10 @ 220 degrees (or longer depending on the amount of water and how thick you applied the stain. Allow to cool completely and spray with a high gloss polyurethane. You can also add glitter, Epsom salt, or other sparkling products to the wet polyurethane. I added Epsom salt to the stems on a couple.

Place a flameless candle underneath and you have beautiful centerpiece for your table, window or mantle.
There are so many different ways to add a unique touch to an ordinary everyday piece of glassware.
The old unloved light fixture globes are now bells with a little Snow on the outside. I applied the Unicorn SPiT to the inside of the globes and just a little to the outer rim where I applied the snow, which was once again Epsom salt.
The Unicorn SPiT is a thick enough texture that you can apply like a paint also. The snowmen where hand painted with sponges and paintbrushes. I always seem to have a few stray socks around so, I glued them to the lid for some added whimsy.
Well, even the little snowmen need to warm themselves around the fire when they live in Montana!
