A Rustic DIY Advent Calendar

My kids and I had so much fun creating this rustic Advent calendar out of found twigs, twine and a few purchased materials. It is festive without screaming "Christmas!' Although I'm good with decor that screams Christmas too! ;) We actually found a bundle of branches at the end of a neighbor's driveway, all bundled up! Of course, if you live in the country it's probably easy to find branches!

You also need some cloth drawstring bags, twine, number stamps and, of course, fun things to fill the bags with! Once you have gathered the materials, the whole thing is easy peasy to put together and children can help out with the stamping. Perfection isn't needed or called for!

Once the bags are stamped and tied to the branches, all that's left is to fill them with lots of goodies! We have used this for a couple of years now and it is a highlight of the season for the kids. Plus I just love seeing it on the wall. Decor that you have created as a family is so much more special, don't ya think?
