Rustic Reindeer Crate

Hey guys! This month's challenge was about using a holiday stencil from Cutting Edge Stencils for a holiday craft! Each blogger chose their stencil and we got to work creating! I chose the reindeer stencil.
First, I purchased a create from Michael's. I wanted to make something that I could use each year!
I painted the crate gray, then laid the stencil down, securing it with tape. I placed the reindeer at an angle because I didn't want it to be "perfect." Our home is farmhouse/rustic/vintage so I wanted to make this crate appear distressed or vintage.
I applied a light white coat of paint over the stencil with a stencil brush. Once dry, I used sand paper over the whole crate to remove some of the paint / distress it.
I love the finished product! Our home has a lot of white in it so this fits perfectly.
I made into a "tree shirt" for our small real tree. We have quite a few real trees, big and small, throughout the house! For more DIY and home decor, check out my blog, www.shabbygraceblog.com Thanks for stopping by!
