DIY Air Freshener With Three Ingredients

We moved into a new house in October and one thing I’m still struggling with is the smell. An older gentleman lived there for quite a while and the home itself was built in the early 80’s, so there is a lingering “musk” I’m working to rid the home of. I’ve tried charcoal air purifying bags to help rid the room of the scent and I think they’re working because the musk is going down a bit, but there’s still that old house smell I’m working on updating with a fresher, cleaner scent. And sure, I could run to the nearest Bath and Body Works and plug an artificial scent into every outlet in my home, but that really doesn’t do much for me. I like my house to just have a natural, clean and uplifting scent that seems like I’m trying, but I’m not trying TOO hard with $100’s in Bath and Body products. So today I’m sharing with you how I used three simple ingredients to make my own DIY Air Freshener and how you can bottle it up and gift it as a gift for other new homeowners, as well! So if you’ve been searching for that unique housewarming gift idea, I’ve got you covered!
This can be made in three easy steps....gather up your fresh lemons, pure vanilla, and rosemary.
The lemons and rosemary need to be fresh from the produce area....and if you really wanted you could use a vanilla bean.
Slice up the lemon into 6 slices.
Add lemon, two sprigs of rosemary, and a tablespoon of vanilla and fill jar with water and seal. Add ribbon for decoration and you have a great housewarming gift.

When ready to heat, put on the stove in a saucepan and set on low. The scent will diffuse. You can keep adding water throughout the day and the mixture can last up to a week in the saucepan. Your home will smell amazing!

We heat the house with a wood stove and put a pot of water on top so the air doesn't dry out so bad. I like to put oranges, cranberries, cinnamon and cloves in the water for a wintry/Christmas time smell. Now I want to go get lemons and try this out :)
