My favorite cold weather fragance is the "Wintersweet" Chimonanthus praecox var.
luteus. I wanted to share a couple of pictures of the large one in my yard. It has brought many years of landscape filling smells that are similar to the banana Kits taffy I ate as a child.

Do they take acidic soil? I live in Texas and our soil here is clay and alkaline.

I'm not aware of any particular soil preference, Jessica. But I'd check with a good local garden center. If no one there grows it, there's probably a reason why.
