Dollar Store Sunburst Mirror

Who doesn't like a Dollar Store hack?! For less than $5 and some leftover supplies I was able to make this fun sunburst mirror for my daughter's room. (If you don't have 'leftover supplies, allow another $8 for wood and spray paint.) The materials for this one are simple: clothespins and a mirror... I hung this opposite from her dress up dresser, so she has a place to make faces and enjoy her costumes.

A few dozen clothespins + a cheap mirror + spray paint = DIY sunburst mirror

I saw these quaint round clothes pins and the wheels started spinning. We used to make little figures out of these using pipe cleaners and fabric, but a sunburst mirror is much more useful around the house!
The first step was to cut down every clothes pin and sand the rough ends.
This mirror is also from the dollar store. If you're keeping track, that's $2 spent so far.
Next, I slid the dollar store mirror out of its frame and made a new frame for it out of plywood.
I taped off the edges to keep wood glue from getting everywhere and glued each clothespin onto the mirror frame, one side at a time.
I added one clothespin to the corner and taped to hold in place.
I taped off the mirror and spray painted the whole thing and... love it! (For other wall decor I've DIYd in my house... click here!)
This is hanging in my daughter's room and she loves giving herself a quick peek on her way out the door each morning.

It's cute, and reminds me of one of those bristle blocks, you know the kids' toy?

This is adorable. A neat piece that can be hung probably anywhere in the house. I can definitely see this hung in my laundry/craft room or in a hallway or on the porch. Great piece.
