Nasturtiums, Scarification and Other Fun with Preschoolers!

I spent the morning planting nasturtium seeds with my daughter's preschool today. These are large seeds that are easy for their little fingers to work with. They grow easily in sun to part sun and the flowers are edible. Nasturtiums are also excellent as bait in the garden if you have an aphid problem.
A nasturtium seedling.
Nasturtium in bloom. An excellent addition to and vegetable or flower garden.

Great story Kim! The kids were very enthusiastic when they heard they could eat the flowers. :)

The leaves are wonderful additions to a salad also. Taste somewhat like horseradish. I've been known to snack on them.
