How to Build a Composting System from Pallets

1 Hour
Easy
After seeing countless photos of these systems on Pinterest and in the blogosphere, we finally got around to making our own composting system from pallets this weekend. It's really quick and easy - here's how we did it in less than an hour.
This is what we started with - just an area in the yard with a black municipal composting bin.
You'll need five pallets to get a two tiered system. Start by creating a back wall and securing another pallet for a side wall.
Use long deck screws to attach the pallets top, middle and bottom of each side.
A two bin system allows for piling kitchen and yard waste on one side to decompose and storing the finished compost on the other side.

How long does it usually take to make the compost to be usable soil. I have been collecting banana peels and clean paper towels that I have been putting them in bags after they are dry. I was completely suprized about how many paper towels I used in my kitchen and bathroom to just dry my hands and wipe up little spills so I have bags of dried paper towels.

I have a big yard (a lot of grass clippings and leaves) and a big family (a lot of inside waste), could a pallet swinging door be put on the front to really fill that bad boy up?
