The Beginning Of A Home Renovation
We have started a major home renovation on a house built in 1905. The plan is either to use the home as a rental or to flip it. We fell in love with the character, including hardwood floors, wood trim and custom built ins. Most of the exterior work has been finished as we have been working on gutting the interior. We gave the home a more updated look by opening up the front porch and making it a brand new covered deck instead. To add some drama and impact from the road we changed the color of the home to a dark granite gray with bright white trim. We still are planning to change out the front door and add new exterior lights.
The back of the house changed quite a bit with the closing up of one of the exterior doors and the taking away of the ramp. It provides a much cleaner look.
And, a peak into the front door. ALOT of work needs to be done. We currently have all of the paneling, plaster, wallpaper, etc. off of all of the walls. The house is also now empty of all of the ......stuff.....left by the previous owners.

Our home was built in 1920 and needed a LOT of wall insulation. when we bought it 10 years ago. I couldn't believe how underinsulated it was. We went with injection foam insulation because it was super easy to install (took them 1 day) and didn't do damage to the walls. It also had a high R-value. Super pleased.
