Laundry Room Reveal

When we first moved into our home last fall, all the colors were painted a dark tan color and the laundry room had old, outdated cupboards with a hideous plastic utility sink. The room had a long ugly, industrial ceiling light that would BUZZ every time it was turned on. The room is right off of the garage and the garage is actually the front of the house...so people walked through it often. We decided we really wanted to tackle updating this room by adding more storage, functionality, as well as making it much prettier and more updated!! Check out the before photos first...

The wall used to be completely open on that side of the room (see ugly outdated fixture on ceiling, as well). We decided to add a mudroom to this wall to provide storage and a dumping ground for purses, coats, shoes, and snow gear.

The house was built in 1982, so the cabinets appear to be original to the home. They were dented and dinged and were really stained on the inside. The plastic sink, while useful, was really ugly and was very low...so when using you really had to bend down to use it. The space above the cabinets was wasted. We decided to raise the cabinets to the ceiling and make them all the same size rather than using a shorter one in the center. The house has very limited storage, so we didn't want to waste space.

The brown trim is something that we intend to paint, but haven't gotten to it just yet. The tan wasn't bad, but was very dark and made the small room feel even smaller.

We painted the space Tradewind Blue by Sherwin William and installed this mudroom from Home Decorators Collection. I decorated the space with the help of awesome finds from World Market.

We purchased a lower white cabinet and three uppers. We installed a new utility sink with a black Moen faucet and dark gray counter top. The washer and dryer came with the house and the blue seems to fit perfectly with the room now!

I created a gallery wall on the empty space by the garage door...with finds from World Market.

The lower cabinet is so clean and modern looking...it's one of my favorite things from the room. We purchased cabinets for under $150 each at Home Depot and picked up the countertop sample from Lowe's. The faucet is a Moen faucet in black matte finish.

We purchased a pentagon light from Shades of Light to replace the ugly existing fixture. It gives a really fun and unique look to the room! Visit my blog to see ALL the details and decor for the space, as well as direct links to all the products used!

SO LOVE this!!! Do the side cabinets have storage for mops, brooms, etc. or are there shelves inside? The pictures on their website don't show the insides.
