Deciding to Paint a Family Heirloom

Doreen Cagno
by Doreen Cagno
My Grandma's corner cupboard is a very old piece and one item that I have been pressured not to paint (even though in her day it was painted). I finally decided that Grandma certainly wouldn't care if I painted it - so I went for it! Here are the results.
I used paint that I used in my dining room - BM Edgecomb Gray with inside door panels in BM Revere Pewter.
I chose not to paint the shelves.
All ready for summer in fresh yellow and white.
Basket of faux forsythia and wildflowers hanging on the door.
Original hardware intact.
Here's a pic of the before from last spring when my walls were yellow.

It looks gorgeous. I have my grandmother's corner cupboard too and have yet to paint it (not saying never though - just haven't had the time). Love that basket!
