How To Caulk the Easy Way Without the Mess!

When I bought my house I had very minimal DIY experience but over the years I have learned a lot by trial and error. One of the things I learned right away was how messy it was to apply caulking. Everyone kept telling me to use my finger and that was the best method out there. Well after MANY attemps and TONS of paper towels later, I did some research and discovered they were WRONG! There is a MUCH easier way to apply caulking with no mess, AND the best part is you walk away with a clean straight line too! Here are my secrets to getting a nice clean caulking line EVERYTIME! http://decoratedchaos.blogspot.com/2013/05/how-to-caulk-clean-straight-line-with.html
First you gotta have a good caulking gun! Make sure it is spring loaded like this one. The spring loaded action helps push out the caulking with even pressure so that it is evenly distributed as you apply.
Make sure you have a spout cutter. You will need this to get a nice clean cut on the tip of your tube of caulk. If you get a jagged cut or one that is too big your caulking will come out too fast and you will waste it!
Also, look for this little needle like do-dad. This guy helps you clean out the dried up caulking around the tip of your caulking tube.
Then there is this awesome tool. It is a MUST HAVE! This little guy is desiged so that you just run it along your caulking line and it creates a nice professional finish WITOUT getting your fingers messy!
On my blog I provided a short video to show you how these tools work together to create a nice clean line. You can see the video here http://decoratedchaos.blogspot.com/2013/05/how-to-caulk-clean-straight-line-with.html
