Wild Parrots

I live in Oceanside, CA and I've seen a wild parrot or two around the neighborhood. "They" say there is a flock living in or around the town. No one seems to know where the parrots came from. So today I caught this little critter at one of my bird feeders. I think he didn't quite know what to do. There's a pair, it must be mating season. Really loud characters.
I know this is not about our usual topics but I thought you might have fun with it. You might need to enlarge it a bit.

There is an entry in Wikipedia about wild parrots under the parrot heading and it gives several cities that have them. So interesting!

I know I'm a few years behind here but.. the PBS show (also on amazon ) is "The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill" It's a great documentary on the wild flocks of a small parrot species from South America called Conures. There are several different types of Conures including Blue Crown & Green Cheek, but most are Cherry Head Conures. And yes they can be extremely loud! I can't tell from the picture but from the size I think what you have is more than likely a Conure. If you want them to come around put out some veggies and actual parrot food (less fat and healthier) or some parrot toys hanging in the tree as well!!!! Conures LOVE to play! If your patient you might even get them to trust you enough to become friends!! Nothings better than to have your hair preened by a Conure! I know I found a Blue Crown 3 years ago in my yard and he's been my BFF since! Zuz recommends the documentary we actually watched it together he loved but enjoyed "Paulie" even more! lol
