Refurbishing an Old Shed, Using a Variety of Low or No Cost Materials.

We had a new larger shed built for storage of yard equipment, etc.. It was built in front of the old shed - which has become mine. I yanked out nails, boards, rickity shelving and then inspected the cleaned out shell. Here's what I found & the repairs I made.
Ther is still more to do - I need to strip the roof and build a ramp. I already found the wood I need & then some on the side of the road.
Didn't look too bad at first. The ramp that sat atop the pavers was rotted and useless. Turns out the pavers held too much moist - so they will out of there.
10" of the bottom of the door was rotted.
Thank fully the rickety shelf had 2 lenghts of the same wood panels, which were used and left over vinyl corners left over from the new shed were cut to serve as protective edging on the bottom of the door..
....and flashing on the entrance.
Water & rodents had shewed a hole into the base so Pete formed a metal piece to hide the hole on the inside & I use that TUFF STUFF from the outside.
After a thorough cleaning I pinted the plywood floor with exterior floor paint - 1 qt. did the job & only cost $9.00.
I diluted the little paint that was left and applied to the staind but faded door & I hung racks I had from a road side find.
I added this chrome plated cart I had found years ago instead of installing shelving. It has great wheels and once I build a ramp I can roll & my tools to where I am working in the yard.
Pete installed these vents I had left over from the old house.

Wow, this is an old post but if I may. Wood can not touch the soil. Since you're in Rhode Island I guess the snow was pretty deep. I advise for outdoor sheds concrete foundation and if you can't get that done or just need to repair the damage I would use concrete patio blocks or low-cost wall retainer blocks on the bottom of the repair with really good primer and protective paint for the wood. The patio blocks at the big box stores were under $2 bucks each. I also envelop my shed with plastic mulch to avoid carpenter ants and other insects.
