For Father's Day this year, I built my husband a cooler stand to fit an insulated cooler. We love how it turned out. Its functional, fresh, and fun! See my blog for a DIY tutorial.
Best Dad ever!
This cooler stand is our new favorite patio accessory!
It began with a little cosmetic work on the cooler.
Nothing a hacksaw can't fix - cooler is ready for a new home.
I built a frame from 1x2's
The side frame gets assembled - my daughter paints.
The kids want to help, the cat needs petting....It's a zoo around here!
Ready for the final frame piece.
Voila!
Panels get filled in.
All the panels are nailed and glued in place.
I grouted some bottle caps into the front panel. I love how it turned out.
This is a must. Bottle opener right on the front.
I love the drain, it is functional and adds so much character.
I also added a nice shelf so you have somewhere to set your glass when you need a refill.
Happy Father's Day!

Frequently asked questions
Have a question about this project?
How long did it take to build it?
Great project. My question is after actually giving the gift and feeling with ice and drinks, was it at all top heavy sith the center of gravity so high? Just wondering.
How do you attach the wooden to to the cooler top?
