My oldest daughter needed a new dresser so we found one at a thrift store for $40. It is sturdy but had a dark wood stain on it and a rail along the middle top of the dresser.
She removed the rail and filled the wholes with wood putty. Then she got out the hand sander and went to town!
Filled in holes from larger drawer pull.
3 coats of primer!
Gray satin paint and glass knobs from Hobby Lobby.
Aqua spray paint for a pop of contrast.
Onto the desk for her daughter! She sanded, primed and painted again...the desk, stool and headboard
A soft Pink paint, gold trim with Aqua drawers and silver knobs sprayed gold..and the stool covered in a pink chenille.
My 7 year old granddaughter LOVES her new set!
Suggested materials:
  • Orbit hand sander, Kilz primer, light gray satin paint, pink satin paint, Aqua and Gold spray paint,   (Hobby Lobby for the knobs, Home Depot for the paint.)

Great for right now and in the future. I can already see a more sophisticated look for this set in just a few years. For now -Fabulous.
