Entry Closet Redo

Our entry closet was full of so many items that we didn't even use and it caused an avalanche every time some one opened the door.
The only good thing about it here is the little hanging basket I bought from Kohls recently to corral some of the littles’ shoes. I removed EVERYTHING: the shelf and rod and all the trim. Then I planked the back wall and put a 1X6 board with hooks along the back wall.
I extended the 1X6 on the sides of the closet so it could hold the upper shelf. I also placed a new shelf along the bottom of the closet so it could hold more shoes.
Then I painted it all white. After purging a garbage bag full of shoes, a garbage bag full of coats, hats and scarves and a small vacuum, moving the winter coats to the basement and storing the winter boots for the season, painting the closet white, installing new trim, planking, hooks and a new shelf here is the after…
I can’t tell you how great it feels to have this closet cleaned out!

This is a great makeover. My question is why can't each persons shoes be kept in their own room? Or are these just outdoor shoes/boots in this area. It sure is pretty and I hope it works out well for your family.
