Turning Old Doors Into Lighting Fixtures

1 Material
I love Southern architecture. My family and I moved to the Coastal South Carolina area from New York nearly 25 years. I love visiting Savannah & Charleston over and over. I never get tired of these charming cities. The most unique feature of these areas is how designers take something vintage and add it to there new decor. I decided to try re-designing my old doors into something new!
How-to below.
Two old doors ($75.00 for the pair)

Sander

Paint remover

Spatula

2 lighting sconces

If you are wonderng where the lighting sconces are from... Horchow!
Be careful with this step!

Add paint stripper in a plastic tub and apply on a small area on the door.Keep applying it to small areas until all old paint is removed.

Remove with a spatula or dull knife

Once paint is removed, sand the doors until they are feel pretty smotth
4.You can paint the doors now.

5.After you paint the doors, you can sand the edges to get a distress look.
Next step... hire a electrician to attach the lighting fixture or if you are handy with electrical stuff you can do it yourself

6.Drill a hole where you want the lighting fixture cord to go through.

7. Now you are ready to install the lighting fixture.

Are those new sconces or are they antique? If new, how did you give them the look of age? Love them!

Stunning room, beautiful lights, I love your style. I also really love your pictures and pillows - how did you do the pics?

Very inspired. Love your style. Considering these sconces for my bathroom. Do you have to use the the shade on the lights? My space is limited and I don't know if I can accomodate the width of the shades.
