From Tin Can Trash to Planter Paradise

A Greener City
by A Greener City
Save those aluminum cans from the trash by creating planters out of them for your patio or balcony!
I found two large restaurant size coffee tins in the trash and knew they would make terrific planters for my balcony. I planted one with a thornless blackberry bush, and in the other a red currant plant.
I've also planted a small coconut milk can with salad greens and a small spanish olive oil tin with basil.
Once you start looking around your kitchen you can save a lot of cans from the trash and put them to better use in your garden!
The messy balcony garden is full of found containers growing edibles like berries, tomatoes, herbs, onions and potatoes.
Here are the two berry bushes planted in upcycled coffee containers that were thrown in the trash by a neighborhood restaurant.
Basil and salad greens sprout from cans that escaped the dump!
A red currant bush and a thornless blackberry provide food for the bees and for me!
