A few of years ago I found this cane covered trunk at a local garage sale. I knew I could do something with it so I took it home and stored Christmas decorations in it until I could find the time to decide what to do.
I recently found time to finish this garage sale find and am very happy with the results.
I recently found time to finish this garage sale find and am very happy with the results.
This is what the truck looked like when I first purchased it. All of the hardware had been removed. I initially though all of the hardware was inside the trunk when I purchased it but I later found out that most of the pieces were missing.
After a few years of being used for storing Christmas decorations, it became even more damaged. The cane was loose and pealed off in several places so I decided to completely remove the cane.
I covered the truck with a nice quality batting.
Next I took some leftover French print fabric to complete the look.
I lined the inside and added new hardware (hinges, protective corners, and plastic feet to protect the flooring.
I am very pleased with the way it turned out.
