Seahorse Coastal Headboard With Saltwash
I am so excited to share this refinished headboard I created for my daughter's bedroom. It was my first time using Saltwash which is an additive you mix with paint. It is so cool! It really creates a time worn, beachy look.
I started with an old French Provincial headboard that my Dad gave me. It needed a little work, but had beautiful lines and detailing.

I mixed the appropriate amount of Saltwash to white chalk paint and applied the paint in a thick amount on the entire headboard. You want it to have peaks and texture. You can see in the first picture below how cool this process is. After about 15 minutes you smooth out the peaks to your liking. I let it dry overnight and then painted it a beautiful aqua blue using white chalk paint for the inset. The Seahorse is actually a stencil used with plaster filler to get a raised, fossil like appearance! I will definitely use this technique again.

love the headboard! I was just about to purchase a $500 bed in this same color (which I would STILL have to put together). I think now I will just find a headboard to attach to the frame and take it away myself. Savings? about $400.

Lik to drive this but with a 'raised' medium so has a 3D effect. What might I use for that ? To make a Summer decir for front door.
