Flowerbed Redo!

Sorry I've been gone for the past (how long's it been? a week?) I've been a busy bee! I've been working on completely redoing flowerbed #3 (and trying to get my rose bushes out of shock, three cheers for Hormex!) I'm pretty sure I'm going to move the tiger lilies out of there, but not this year. Probably early next spring. And plant hostas there. And we're also pruning the Rose of Sharon waaaaay down this fall. It's HUGE! Oh, and I also planted grass seed in the dirt patches where the old parts of the flowerbed used to be. It used to come farther out as you can see in the "before" photos.
The spaces in between I may plant some annuals. My birthday is on Tuesday. The perfect opportunity!

What is the plant around the base of the Althea (Rose of Sharon) bush/tree? Very pretty!
