  • Only cut the stems off. Let the leaves do their thing. They do not like to have their rhizomes buried too deep-just barely in the dirt. Iris do need to be thinned out about every 3-5 years depending upon the growth habit. Iris do well with most every other sun loving plant like Black eyed Susans, Coreopsis, Daylilies, Coneflowers, etc.

    My favorite flower as well. I'm trying to collect many different colors. They are just beautiful.
