DIY Leather Tufted Ottoman With Custom Hairpin Legs

It's time for another Monthly DIY Challenge! This month we worked with Leather Hide Store to create beautiful home decor pieces using some of their gorgeous leather hides.

I chose to use one of their Montana buckskin hides to DIY a leather tufted bench for our entryway. It was a fairly straight forward project that made for the perfect mudroom addition.

I started with a small piece of plywood that I cut down to size. Instead of buying expensive foam from the craft store I opted to use an inexpensive full/queen foam mattress pad. It worked just as good and saved me a ton of money.
I simply covered the plywood with the foam pad and batting before stapling on my leather.
Once I had the leather stapled to my bench I covered 8 half ball buttons with complementing fabric then threaded them through the leather to create the diamond tufting.
My talented neighbor then welded custom hairpin legs for the bench. They were the perfect finishing touch for this DIY mudroom bench.
