Lamp Makeover

This Lamp is pretty much an “In your Face” Bold Statement piece. I just did not want to give it a simple lamp makeover and call it a day. This lamp is for someone who really loves to take risks!
I basically had a checklist for this lamp that it should be

1.Quirky

2.Something Never seen before (or at least something that I haven’t seen before)

3.Bold colors

4.Some sort of pattern that I would never expect on a lampshade

5.And when you look at it for the first time it makes you think “WOW” this is really different!
Now you guys can understand why I wanted something so different since the Lamp originally was not even worth a second glance.

And with such a long checklist in mind, my work began.
I grabbed my masking tape and just started taping the lampshade.
Now the hard part was that should I paint it or not ? But I have painted so many lampshades in my life that this wouldn’t be any different.

Then a lightbulb went off in my head that why not use Gold Leafing on the lampshade!

And so I dabbed on some Deocoupage and carefully placed the Gold Leaf all over.
Next the base of the lamp needed an uplift. It had to be a Bold color.

And you can’t get more bolder then this beautiful color by DecoArt.

I wanted to use this beautiful Metallic Paint from DecoArt and I chose the 24K Gold.
When that was done it was just a matter of taking off the masking tape and attaching the lampshade back onto the base.

And that was it.

All Done.
