My Bradford Pear tree

LandlightS
by LandlightS
Somewhere I was told that this tree does not bear fruit....this is one of two that drops over 150 to 200 pears per season.......and it is a big PIA as the ants get to the fallen pears before I can clean them up

Why can't these be picked before they fall and used?

Nancy, if you have two of the same type of pear tree you may have a pollination issue.

This is not a Bradford pear. The same thing happened to me. Your pear was mislabeled or re-labeled. If the pears get to be around 2 pounds each and don't ripen until they fall, it is probably a Kieffer pear. These are the old timey preserves pears, and they are gritty until they have been cooked.
