Decorating With Lamps
by
B.J. B
(IC: homeowner)
I love lamps, but they are so expensive that I almost always buy them on sale. This is a collection of the lamps I am currently using. The rest are stored in my basement. I frequently dust them off and bring them back out. You will notice that most of the lamps are tall and skinny. They are my favorite kind.
Enjoyed the project?

Nancy Gramm on Mar 30, 2014I'm a lampophile too, BJ, and enjoyed seeing yours. Mainly, I restrict my purchases to thrift stores and most of them were found years back. Nowadays I have to restrict myself--I have way too many. I showed a few of my finds on these (dated) blogposts: http://sumpnsassy.blogspot.com/2013/01/button-lampshade-and-thrift-store-lamps.html and http://sumpnsassy.blogspot.com/2010/03/more-thrifty-lampsand-few-buttons.html Hope you like seeing my treasures. ;^)

Nancy Gramm on Apr 02, 2014@B.J. B Thx, B.J. Gotta admit I've been horribly lax about blog posts for a good year--but it's on my list of things to do. ;^) Re the button shade, I took the easy way out ito cover an existing shade--that being to cut and glue individual panels onto the shade, then cover the seams with glued-on trim. For the button border, I stitched buttons onto a 2 1/2" strip of linen, then did a gathering strip at the top to ease it onto the curvature of the lamp. If I ever do it again--and I doubt I will-- I'll cut a curved strip for the buttons. And i stitch them rather than glue. Just an obsession of mine. I love buttons and don't want to muck them up with glue! But I'd love to see what you come up with! We lamp-aholics need to stick together.

Nancy Gramm on Apr 02, 2014Sounds fun! As I said, I'd love to see the finished project. If you want to be beguiled by lamps and lampshades, check out Kathleen Mullaney on Facebook. She is the most creative, prolific artist I've ever run across. She did a magnificent button lampshade that inspired mine. She stopped writing her blog a while back and apparently deleted all the posts or I'd direct you there to see hers. Now she posts her gorgeous pics on FB.
