Mason Jar Lanterns: Crafting With Kids

Using acrylic paint, outdoor Mod Podge, a few scraps of sandpaper and some mason jars, we created gorgeous mason jar luminaries! This is a great activity to try with the kids - they will be so proud of their glowing lanterns. Try this at BBQs, as party favours, or while camping!
A beautiful way to light up the night...
Start with a palette of acrylic paints.
Paint the entire jar. We flipped it upside down for easy mess-free painting.
Paint the entire jar and put it aside to dry.
Once dry, sand the jar to allow for "peek-a-boo" spaces that the light can shine through.
Coat with Mod Podge Outdoor (great stuff!) and let dry.
Tie twine to a jar lid and screw it onto the jar.
Admire your beautiful lantern collection. If your kidlets have made their own lanterns, use a battery operated tea-light in their jars.
