For all that wanted to see the Peruvian Scilla aka The belly button, it has started to bloom, in the pics it looks blue, but it really is a light purple with yellow center. It has to be the slowest blooming flower I have ever seen, its taken almost 3 weeks to get to this point.

This flower is absolutely gorgeous ! Can you tell me where you purchased it? Here in Vancouver, Washington the common Scilla grows quite prolifically. Can you tell me if the Peruvian variety would grow in this area also? Thank you for sharing your beautiful pictures!

@Marilyn: Several folks on Dave's Garden report growing it in Texas and it supposedly likes hot, dry conditions.

here is an article about the plant. It says you should only split it if you really need to because it will disrupt its blooming for a year or 2. It also says that the head of the bulb should be planted just above the soil which is unusual. Sounds like if you do not split it, this is a good time to give it some fertilizer. Regardless, take care of your little jewel. http://www.paghat.com/scillaperuviana.html
