Lucy in the sky
by Lucy in the sky
Easy
My before and after curbside find solid wood love the carving on it !!!

1. I sanded (with a small electric sander) the table down with a coarse grit sand paper about 100 grit size then I sanded by hand with a medium size 120 grit to smooth it down.
2. I cleaned it made sure all the dust was off and stained it with minwax wood finish dark walnut 2716 I gave it a couple coats with a clean cloth, don't get discourage if it looks dull, and I let it dry between coats.
3. Now for the magic, with a brush, brush on polyurethane I used varathane polyurethane It dry's supper fast I gave it about 3-4 coats for a supper glossy look.
Thank you Yair Spolter

Just wondering if you hand-sanded the original finish off of the carvings with paper or sponges or ??? Did it take you a lot longer in general to get past the original finish to the oak? (Was your hand tired after?) I am curious because I've been putting off a similar task and I have limited ability to flex-and-press-down on my dominant hand; oak wood seems so much harder than pine!
