A Guest Bedroom Budget Makeover!

Turning a dated, blah bedroom into a cozy, welcoming guest bedroom!
*I buy old, ugly, and neglect houses & flip them all by myself! It's a crazy, DIY house-flipping life, so follow along at my blog: The Bachelorette Pad Flip https://bachelorettepadflip.com/
Step 1: Since I purchased this house from my Grandma and Grandpa's estate, I know the history of each room. This room was "Grandpa's Room." I think it's where he'd hang out and watch TV--his man cave. The walls had never been painted and were yellowed with 50+ years of dirt and wear. There was even brown shag carpet! And a gold floral fan. It was retro cool!
How Grandma had the room arranged really made the small room seem even smaller. The queen bed was placed right by the door, so as soon as you walked in, the space was limited. After removing the shag carpet, queen bed, and gold floral fan, it was time to update!
By using some almost-free paint [check my blog for paint color!], my thrift store bed makeover [also on my blog!], thrift store lamps, and thrifted end table this room drastically changed!
By replacing the bed with a full size and positioning it away from the door underneath the window, the room seems so much larger! And underneath that ugly shag carpet was original hardwoods that were refinished [check out that process on my blog!]. Almost all of this room was furnished either through thrift stores, DIY, or curbside!
This dresser was heaped at my neighbor's curb--tragedy! I rescued it and gave it new life--but still working on finding just the right hardware!
The fun yellow and white artwork is the EASIEST & CHEAPEST project! I have a full tutorial on my blog! Those doors will eventually be white---I'm just dreading painting them, so I keep putting them off!
By keeping with the yellow and gray theme throughout the room but toning it with large white accents it's not overkill. I also love displaying things in unexpected ways, like using a retro planter to display my cotton!

You did a beautiful job. I think I would leave the closet doors as they are for a bit of nostalgia.

I thought the project room was done until I saw the dresser. You could find cheap drawer hardware at yard sales that have the "guy's tool stuff" or a Goodwill-type thrift store. I like the grey/yellow combo, very pretty with POP! If you made the lamp shades, you could continue that on the walls in frames.
