I have been wanting to do my stained art of a sunflower for a long time, but never found the piece that spoke to me.
THEN, I came upon this oak table, which was really in good shape. I thought the oak would be a good piece because of it's yellow tones.
I stripped and sanded it down and then started my staining to allow it to SHINE!
I decided to try a new product on this one.... General Finishes Dye. There re pros and cons to the dye. I ended up going back to my go to stain - MinWax Ebony, but I finished up the detailing with the Dye.
I sealed the top first with Zinsser Seal Coat and then several coats of Varathane. I stained the legs and apron of the table in General Finishes java gel stain. And finished with several coats of Varathane.
To see more of this piece, you can check out my blog at http://www.mmembellishments.com/single-post/2016/08/26/Who-doesnt-love-Sunflowers
