Re-using the Wood

When we bought our home it needed work and the deck was no exception. To save costs and to be 'green' I turned the deck boards over and had a new surface to play with. The slanted boards were the original boards flipped. Some of the boards were unusable so I had to buy a few 16'. Wanted something different so this is pattern. Had to reinforce where the slants but the deck is original and I saved money by reusing and flipping the boards.

Very cool! If they're kinda rotted seeming on top side, are they still usable on the other side, you think?
    • @Julie Bunton Brackett Yes, I flipped the boards over and they looked almost new still and they were original deck boards from 1989! Some were not used because the previous owner was a smoker and let's just say Home improvements were not on his list. The deck had burn holes so they were not reusable. You carefully use a pry or crow bar and lift the boards up. I was shocked to find the underside good as new.
