September 11th Attacks in NYC and Healing Power of Urban Gardens

Today is the twelfth anniversary of the Nine Eleven, when terrorists flew planes into buildings, including the Twin Towers in lower Manhattan. At 8:46 AM they hit the north tower, a building I had been to only three weeks and one day prior for a job interview (at GENERAL TELECOM, INC), which was on the 83rd Floor of 1 WTC. I've written about this and other things related to the terrorist attacks in prior entries on Blogger, and you my refer to these posts @ http://www.thelastleafgardener.com/search/label/September%2011th
AND, for those of you who have urban gardens, a post that might interest you is @ http://www.thelastleafgardener.com/2012/09/follow-up-for-friday-not-just-for-birds.html
It is a solemn day and a time to be silent, so I will leave today's posting with heartfelt thoughts and prayers for the losses endured by everyone.
However, if you feel up you are up for reading about birds (including cardinals, finches and mourning doves) and urban gardens, I have entries on both Blogger and tumblr that are entertaining and up-lifting.

[FYI, the image included with today's entry is of One World Trade Center (formerly called The Freedom Tower), which was built to "replace" the World Trade Center Twin Towers.]

I couldn't get the first url to work :( I was in working in Washington, DC and felt the building shake when the plane hit the Pentagon. Lost 2 friends in that mess. Managed to snag a ride home with 2 of my coworkers. We could see the smoke pouring out of the side of the Pentagon as well drove past. No traffic going south, but the north side was bumper to bumper with rescue and fire trucks coming up the median to get there. So sad.

@TheLastLeafGardener Thank you, my dear, I am still in contact with the families, which can sometimes be very bitter/sweet.

It s wonderful that you take the time to be in contact with the families, Catherine. I can understand it being bitter sweet BUT service to others is also what 9-11-11 legacy is becoming as I mentioned on TLLG's Blogger yesterday (9-13-13) @ http://www.thelastleafgardener.com/2013/09/honoring-remembering-service-of-others.html
