Dragonflies In Our Garden

Couple of dragonflies that I got pictures of. I think the green one was trying to court the string of dragonfly lights. It stayed there for quite awhile.
This guy hung out on the underside of our walkway for most of the day.
look in the upper right corner, the dragonfly is pretending he is part of the string of lights.
this dragonfly was sunning itself
its amazing how they can balance on the tiny tip of a dried flower stalk.
The plant on the left side of the previous picture is Penstemon grandiflora, a native prairie plant

Love the photos of the dragonflies. We get mostly the blue dragonflies up here in British Columbia, CANADA. Love to see the variety of colours that are down south.

When I lived in Lynchburg, VA I saw them a lot, along the James River. Green, Blue, mostly. Would sit on my fishing pole. Granny called them Snake Doctors. Since coming to Richmond I see mostly black ones. They were hunting gnats. Would skim the grass to get them to fly up then grab them. Also been greeted by one. He flew up to windshield of car and just hovered there for a few seconds and them flew off.
