LAZY GARDNER!

For years I have used a rake to loosen the soil in a flower bed and spread mustard seed for a winter greens crop. I could not do that this year because I had planted permanent grasses in my planting bed so I decided to pick a spot in the pine isle in the side yard and try my hand at making a sort of raised planter garden. I took scrap lumber and outlined 2 rows about 6' long; poured in about 3 inches of top soil (had some bags left over); sprinkled in the seed and then sprinkled soil over the top and misted. Only time will tell if it works out OK. It only took about an hour to complete and about $6 in seed...so if it works, we eat well. if it doesn't work, I can scoop up the soil and use it next year in some planters.
We planted broccoli, brussel sprouts, collards, mustard and spinach! Yummy. If the scattered seeds I dropped are mixed in, my dish will be called "mixed greens".
I will keep you posted! I am anxious to see how this works.
The 2 bricks are to separate the different seeds. (One pk broke out at the bottom so I will probably have plants everywhere! HA)

Sensible Gardening, I weill keep you posted. Actually, there are few pines....we put in straw beds years ago but use this space for putting leaves in the fall. It gets plenty of sun.
