Potting Up Your Newly Rooted Rose

I shared in a previous post how to Propagate roses by air layering. Here is how you separate it from the mother plant and pot it up once you have a great root system going.
Remove the water bottle. Get your pruners and cut off the newly rooted cane BELOW the root mass
Have a bucket of luke warm water at hand to place the rooted cane into. This will help hydrate the new rose.

Get your roses new home ready, I want to pot mine up but you can place it directly into the ground if you know where you wish to grow it.
Fill good quality potting soil around your new rose and support it well. My cane was very long so it needed a good sized stake.
Keep it well watered and keep a close eye on it until you know it is taking off and growing well. I will keep mine in my greenhouse for the winter or under my back deck.
Next Summer I will have a beautiful blooming rose.
