A Stenciled Bathroom Makeover Using The Kerala Allover Pattern

A half bathroom should feel attractive and inviting. A stencil design is the perfect way to add pattern and personality to a space. We'd like to introduce Amanda from Amanda Rapp Design, a design enthusiast and creative DIYer. Amanda and her husband had purchased a new home. They were lucky enough to have a half bathroom on the main floor but it needed some updating. Here is what the bathroom looked like before the makeover.
After updating the kitchen, Amanda knew it was time to give the neutral bathroom a fresh new look. She commented, "Thankfully there was no wallpaper to remove in this bathroom (YES!) but we wanted to add some character and freshen it up a bit. " The first thing she did was repaint the bathroom using a color similar to Benjamin Moore's Simply White. Next she was able to salvage the old vanity and give a new look with a fresh coat of paint using Benjamin Moore Hale Navy. Then it was time to add a wall pattern. Painted wall designs are a simple and affordable way to add pattern and depth to a room. She browsed our large collection of Geometric Stencils and fell in love with the Kerala Stencil, a majestic wall pattern inspired by a trip to India.
With her Kerala Stencil in hand, she was ready to kick off her stenciling project! Amanda used blue painter's tape to hold the stencil in place while she painted the pattern using a dense foam roller. She painted the Indian inspired pattern in Benjamin Moore's Classic Gray. The clip-on stencil level is a great tool to ensure the pattern was properly lined up on the wall. Once the whole wall was stenciled, Amanda added a new light fixture, updated the hardware, and hung a pretty mirror. Are you ready to see how it all turned out? Here is Amanda's new half bathroom!
Amanda had this to say about her stencil project, "It was my first time using a stencil and it was easier and turned out better than I expected. I actually love the result! It looks like it could be wallpaper but with much less investment and commitment."
