Sharing the birdhouses my husband has made many that have roof gardens.
This one has a good sized planter on the right.
This one is old and weathered. It has been part of this garden for many years.
One of the birds that actually nested in the little box house we have under the eaves.
This house was constructed of old redwood fencing. My husband made the tiny wood pile and chopping block.
It was created for my daughter's birthday...
This one sits on a window shelf. The little tree frog has been spending his Springs & Summers there for two years.
Many others have followed
This is a miniature (about 7" tall) that I bought and replanted.
It was our first one with a garden roof...
Getting started with planting.
Some of the first planted houses used as gifts.
Many of our birdhouses are occupied by other creatures. In this case, spiders.
The one on the left is a couple years old. The small one is a copy of the one I bought.
Many of these have been made and given away as gifts.
On a post in the rose garden & hard to water. The box house in the background had many little swallows hatched there this year.
Eventually I learned that using moss for mulch rather than gravel helped keep the moisture in.
My special log cabin.
After planting many of these with tight plantings and gravel mulch.
One of the houses the birds prefer... lol
