My 2013 Flowers

My house (the old home place where I grew up) caught fire last may 2012.. I ended up having to tear the place down due to the extent of the damages.. I was able to get a double wide home in its place.. I moved in in September 2012..
That is an experience I hope none of you have to face.. it is sooo devastating...
But there is an upside to all the destruction and chaos, my flowers..
I developed a love for flowers from my Grandmother (dads mom) and my mom,.. helping her plant and keep here flowers and do the yard work when I was growing up.
As the season draws to a close, I am always a bit saddened by the approaching of winter and the drab dreary days without color etc. though I know it has to happen , I just don't care to see the flowers and trees leave their beautiful spring & summer stages and give way to their dormant stages.
So I took a few pictures to capture the "1st year" in the "New House" to remind myself as things progress just what it was like regrouping , regathering , and regaining, my foothold on "life" after the fire.
There are quite a few photos and I don't know if there is a limit as to how many you can have in a post hopefully you can understand and bear with me as try to organize and present the flowers to you.
one of my white datura's in bloom earlier this year
This is my Yellow datura's First time they have bloomed since I got them.. The Plant is taller than I am by at least a foot ,, I am 6'1.
this little blossom was "Suppose" to be a morning glory but the blooms turned out extremely small much the size of a hummingbird vine's bloom.
same little flower just a bit closer to show the color and details
This is a "confederate Rose" Hibiscus I got from a friend of mine a few years ago.
The same plant just a bit closer shot.
This is a single Red Hibiscus That i got from the same friend. the Bumble bees are still busy around the blooms that are available.
a different bloom on the same plant
same plant different bloom and a different stage of openness .
these are my mexican petunias, I didn't cut them back at all this year, (there is a bird bath in the midst of these plants
same plants just a closer view of the blooms
Some marigolds planted around my tomato patch
although they look yellow here these are actually Orange cosmos (the taller ones)
more cosmos
different angle of the cosmos w/ marigolds below
one of my favorite animals of all time is Elephants.. And I absolutely LOVE Elephant Ear plants.. I saved them and they are all around the foundation of the new house.
Though they can be a bit intrusive and aggravating I love Morning glories especially my favorite color (Purple) this one has a beautiful star pattern
my mom had 4o'clocks around by the kitchen window of the old place. they were bulldozed away when preparations for the new home were being made. I thought they were gone.. but these sprung up from seed I guess next to the foundation.
same plant closer view
though not a great pic this is my lavender rose. I had 12 roses to dig up and move last august the temperature 90's -100 degrees.. I kept then in a kids swimming pool for 3 months only lost one bush (thats how I saved all my plants)
here is another morning glory its more blue than purple
These 3 guys greet you as you come up the driveway to the sidewalk
the large stone bench, were rocks my sons and I carried a long ways from the creek near where we use to live . the seat is shaped like the state of Tennessee, My best childhood friend and I gathered rocks of all sizes to decorate.
My banana trees are on the opposing side of the parking space near the sidewalk. I dug one up and planted it behind the "mushroom men" It was under the bigger trees and needed to be moved.. Plus I like "balance".
now this is the end of the house next to the driveway.again my elephant ears daturas a rose and orange varigated canas are here, as well as driftwood. In the corner is a patch of clover.. in which we found nearly 20 4-leaf clovers
next to the sidewalk leading to the front porch there was a small space that needed something.. Of course flowers, this is oxalis a beautiful plant that is easy to grow.
In the corner of the space between the parking space and the sidewalk I planted obedience plants and this blue ageratum found its way there as well.
just behind the blue ageratum is a white datura and one of the huge bolders we found on our rock gathering trips.
across the sidewalk next to the porch and steps is another huge bolder with a red hibiscus behind it and 3 more elephant ear plants as well.
finally these pale blue morning glories adorn the to of the fence out back between my property and my sisters
I can see these from my computer room window
This is the blooms for this year, that I was able to catch on film... I hope you enjoyed them.. Its always a work in progress here, and there are many other plants that I didn't take photos of that don't bloom. Thanks for viewing.

Thank You Suzanne, It was devastating to have a fire, but the return and beauty of the flowers was a great comfort and encouragement to move on.

Enjoyed the tour of your beautiful flowers and surroundings. I echo what the others have said about the fire and how you've survived it and brought new life there, from out of the ashes. Wonderful restoration! God bless!
