I have never had a fireplace which means I have never had a mantle to hang my pretty little stockings by ! I have had wood burning stoves growing up, but that doesn't really work. I certainly don't have a fireplace in the apartment I am renting now and have been hanging my stockings on the windows with suction cups, guaranteeing they will fall a million times, for years! With this ladder stocking hanger my holiday socks will fall no more! Grab an old wooden ladder, some lights and garland and get ready for quite the rustic holiday charm!
I actually jumped up and down to make sure they wouldn't fall and they didn't! If you are concerned the S hooks won't hold you could poke thumb tacks into the ladder and hang the stockings from that too.
SUPPLIES: -Old Wooden Ladder -S Hooks (I did paint the silver ones I found gold with some spare spray paint I had on hand) -Decorative Battery Powered LED lights -Garland / Greenery -Stockings
STEP 1: Place your ladder where you wish making sure it is nice and sturdy. (I know my ladder is decorative, but finding an old ladder in Brooklyn proved to be a daunting task... With that being said any old wooden ladder will work)
STEP 2: String some decorative lights around the ladder. I used battery powered LED's so that I didn't have to worry about being near an outlet.
STEP 3: Tape your LED battery pack to the side of the ladder. I placed mine in an area I knew would be covered by stockings later.
STEP 4: Place your S hooks in various spots on the ladder so that the wider hook goes over the wood and the smaller one is exposed to hang the stocking on.
STEP 5: Now simply hang your stockings with care ;)
STEP 6: Take some garland or any pretty little embellishments (beads, ribbon, doiles, etc.) and tuck it on the rungs of the ladder behind the stockings. I know I am using Eucalyptus AGAIN, but it smells so good and I don't have to worry about it drying out. Plus you can get a nice bushel at Trader Joe's for $2.99!
STEP 7: Once you are satisfied with your decor simply stuff all your goodies and treats into your stockings!
Look at all that holiday goodness! I can't wait to stuff these with presents! (I looooove giving gifts)
This ladder is pretty short, but the same thing would work on an 8' ladder.... And you might need it depending on the size of your family!

Where did you get those lights? I love them and do they come in silver also?
