This chest was my mom's engagement gift. My folks were married during the depression so she had to choose between a hope chest and a ring. I hope she would approve of my handiwork. The first is the before. The second is after. I painted the bottom except for the emblem and stained and waxed the top.

    Reminds me of my Moms cedar chest, which is now in my bedroom. also sanded and primed white, and awaiting its final coat of paint. Not sure if I'll do chalk paint in an antique white, or an oil paint.

    Darlene, I am not sure if I used chalk paint or not. If I did, it was the homemade variety made with plaster of paris. Make sure you post yours when you get it done! Would love to see it.
