Best mason jars!

Make your cosmic lights with these mason jars that Amazon reviewers swear by!

The great thing about this project is that you probably have everything you need already in your house.

The first thing I suggest to do is practice on a piece of aluminum foil to get the pressure right, this thing rips pretty easely.

Then take a big piece of foil and fold it a couple of times so that the shiny side of the foil is on the outside and the strip is the right height for your jar. It should be a couple of layers thick.

You can then cut it to size, mind that too much overlapping will block the holes we make later, but if you cut it too short you'll have vertical strip of light showing.

Now comes the creative part! Take the strip out and make your holes. I used a pen and a big needle to make different sized holes. Variety makes it look a lot more like the starry sky. You can make clusters for galaxies, arrange constellations, the milky way, anything your heart desires!

When you're done put the strip back into the jar together with a candle - real or LED -, some string lights, or any other light source you have on hand.

Now you're done! This lantern looks especially good when placed near a wall where it can project the starry pattern.

Thank you so much for reading this tutorial, you can find this and other projects on my YouTube channel: The DIY Forest.

Happy DIYing!

What if you make holes in the lid and spray paint the lid a matching colour in the room? Very nice project for those of us that have talent hidden way far away lol.

You show the lid in the beginning as what you will need but what did you do with it when done?
