Hi Everyone! Today I’m going to show you how to create an artificial DIY magnolia wreath to add to your home decor. I’ve had so many people ask me what wreath would feel timeless, simple and beautiful for their home décor and this simple magnolia wreath is the answer. I know you’ll find it super easy and fun to create!

Materials:

What you’ll need on hand for this project:

Glue Gun/Glue sticks

Wire Clippers

Provided in the DIY Magnolia Kit:

16” Grapevine Base

1 Strand of Artificial Magnolia Leaves (49 leaves)

3 Brown Stem Wires
Begin by plugging in your glue gun and set it aside while it heats up. Clip the first 3” off the end of the magnolia strand and stick it securely into the center of the grapevine base, making sure not to go all the way through the grapevine.
Secure the end of the magnolia strand to the grapevine base by bringing your brown stem wire up through some of the vines from the grapevine and twisting the end of the wire around the magnolia strand. Make sure to create a tight seal by using your wire clippers to grab both ends of your wire and twist as tight as possible. The key to a quality and lasting wreath is to make sure that when you’re tying down or gluing the materials to your base, everything is tight and secure.
Continue by securing the magnolia strand every 4” or so with wire as you slowly wrap it around the base, making sure to stay in the middle of the grapevine. When you have gone all the way around the base with your magnolia strand, clip off the remainder and secure the end down tight within the grapevine with your wire. The remainder of the strand will contain approximately 14 leaves that you can use to fill in to make your wreath even more full.
Now that the magnolia strand is attached to the base, you'll need to “design the wreath out” by manipulating and fanning the leaves uniformly, exposing the “gaps” in the magnolia strand. The picture below shows these gaps.
Take the remaining strand of magnolia leaves and clip each leaf off the strand, making sure to leave a 2” stem to secure into the grapevine base.
You’re now ready to glue the extra leaves into any of the “gaps” left after designing the wreath out. With your glue gun, put a generous amount of glue on each leaf stem. It’s important to get the leaf stem pushed down far into the grapevine so it has something to hold on to and seal to, but be careful not to touch the glue as it’s VERY hot! Once all the gaps are filled, you’ll likely still have leftover leaves. Feel free to place them anywhere, giving your wreath added depth and fullness.
As you hold the wreath up, double check the space in the center, making sure it forms a circle. As I stated in my last tutorial, this step is key to the success of your overall design. You are now finished and ready to hang your magnolia wreath! Congrats!!

PS: If you prefer the two-toned color pattern shown below, simply turn some of the leaves over to show their underside while you’re designing your wreath out and/or turn the “extra” leaves over when you glue them in. Whichever you choose, this wreath is sure to be a hit!

I’ve had several people share with me different ways that they’ve added their magnolia wreath to their home décor. Here are just a few ideas other than hanging on your front door! You can find this piece at Hobby Lobby. The green of the magnolia wreath adds a beautiful accent color and gives it added dimension. This display idea would be beautiful on a wall or over your fireplace. You can also paint the metal to match your home décor.
This unique display piece (also from Hobby Lobby) looks even better with the center filled with your magnolia wreath! It would make a statement leaning up against your mantle.
This last home décor idea is super cute and has become ever so popular recently. You can find this moose head at Hobby Lobby as well! They also have a deer head/antlers along with a few others available. Your friends will want to know where they can get one!

I have been wanting a magnolia wreath but not in my budget. I have an old window that I am wanting to hang in the middle of. Your instructions were made simple and easy. I do believe I will get my wreath now. Thank you!
