You can make your living room a little cozier by sewing some quick pillow covers from thrifted plaid shirts! They will add warm, rustic look that is perfect for winter, and they will cost you so much less than buying new.
Each of these throw pillow covers was made from thrift store shirts and sweaters. http://www.madincrafts.com/2013/11/plaid-thrift-store-shirts-to-cozy-throw.html
Slip your existing throw pillows into the body of a thrift store shirt, and pin the material to the right size. Remove the pillow and sew it up. http://www.madincrafts.com/2013/11/plaid-thrift-store-shirts-to-cozy-throw.html
When you sew up the side of button down shirts, they become instant envelope-style covers. http://www.madincrafts.com/2013/11/plaid-thrift-store-shirts-to-cozy-throw.html

I also like the thought about changing the pillow covers for different seasons. Rather than accumulating a ton of pillows to store season to season, all you have to store are the pillow covers! Much less space is used. Really cute pillows! I do believe I'll be making some myself!
