What's In Your coat closet…in the south it is certainly not coats. So what do you do? Use it for dishes, if you are a dish addict.
I measured and had MDF shelves cut at the local home improvement store and purchased ogee trim for the front of the shelves. I used lumber on hand to make the cleats of 1 X 2s. Repainted the closet with paint on hand, painted the shelves and cleats. Screwed the cleats to studs. Then I played with my dishes..well part of them.

I got so excited about putting my dishes in, I waited about painting the trim. I have since calked and painted the trim.
This was a major part of my problem. Many dishes with no way to get to them easily.
I installed three additional shelves, giving me four shelves that are ready to reach into to retrieve what I need. The top shelf is the original.

Third and fourth shelf.

The door shelves were here before and originally held VHS tapes. They now hold votives, candles, S & P shakers and misc.

Beautiful use of a closet! I love dishes, glass, pottery, china the list just goes forever. And no where to show them or use them. You have inspired me to find that spot. One thing I am addicted to collecting FIESTA we use it everyday. But I have lots of pieces that need to be shown off.
