Easy
A simple and sweet way to get some vintage into your Christmas decor. Find old salt-n-pepper shakers at yard sales and thrift shops. Check out my easy DIY for hanging them with a basic wire ornament hanger. Fill them with little beads or fabric swatches for pops of color. Beautiful!
The small ones are light enough to hang on most trees. Aren't they glitzy? And the variety of shakers is endless. To hang, thread the bottom curve of a wire ornament hanger through two of the holes in the lid.
Optional: for a neater look, twist the wire together and trim the tail with wire cutters. You can play with curves in the wire as shown above. Or If you prefer, simply hang with ribbon or string - so easy -takes only a few minutes.
These are the same shakers as in the previous photo, but now they have color inside...
Fill them with light plastic beads, inexpensive Mardi Gras strands or even little fabric swatches to pop the color!
I snap up shakers at yard sales and thrift shops all year - keep your eyes peeled and collect a bunch. Hope you give this a try!

What a great idea. I have lots of salt/pepper shakers. Some are not clear. I'm going to use them filled with beads that match or coordinate. Thanks for that great idea. Not just for Christmas then.

I absolutely love this!!! I'm a sucker for unique/vintage little odds and ends! I'm thinking just to give every one ideas; I think this would work great with any little glass bottles! If you find one w/no lid, get creative and make it. And also, if the bottles are wide mouthed, maybe those little plastic, battery operated flicker flameless candles would be gorgeous in them!!! It's been a long time since I bought any, but it was at Wal-Mart, a bag of them assorted sizes, and with batteries in them! They wasn't high at all! And also, they have switches or on and off, and later can be taken out, re-used for another project!! 😁
