DIY Fireplace Makeover || Before & After Reveal

Bliss at Home
by Bliss at Home
We updated our old fireplace with tile and built a mantel. We added some finishing touches and painted the original stone.
Here's our finished fireplace.
This is the before shot. Very out-dated.
We used the thinset to create a level surface on the stone and tiled directly on that. We chose Carrara marble subway tile from The Tile Shop.
On the mantel we added some greek key trim from O'verlays.
The stone was given 2 coats of white paint.

Both fireplace looks were really nice. Love the built in bookcases, so would my books. My only question, how do you keep all the white upholstery clean?

Surprising myself, but love the mounted deer head over the mantel. Really nice.

LOVE the fireplace makeover, & your decorating style is flawless! Gorgeous room! I've decided to give my red-brick fireplace 2 coats of white as well... & frame the opening with a similar subway tile! THANKS for sharing, great job!!
