Make a Rustic Grapevine / Pinecone Christmas Garland... for Free!

If you have a grapevine in your backyard, don't miss out this wonderful opportunity to create a cool rustic grapevine / pinecone Christmas garland... for free!
Grapevines have natural breaks in their branches. Simply snap them off at the joins, string them together mixing in pinecones if desired, and you'll end up with a high ticket looking item that cost you the price of string and 2 hours of watching Survivor. :)
Here's how I did it...
This rustic take on a seasonal garland is beautiful, and neutral enough to hang all year around.
Collect pinecones from the roadside and break grapevine branches at their natural joins. All sizes give it a quirky, rustic look.
Starting with string at 2 arm's length, tie a loose knot into the centre of the string, then insert your first twig. Double knot. Then add another... and another and another. Tie in a pinecone between every 7th stick if desired.
Once you run out of string, start another garland, then attach all the short garlands to make one long one. EASY!
No grapevine? No worries! Using different branches will offer a different result. I found a bundle at a thrift store and cut them to size on a miter saw with this version.
The outcome is a really beautiful woodsy look from something soooo simple. And free! More pics and a video tutorial is also avail at the blog link provided.

Gather up twigs or in my case I have a big willow tree in my yard, there's branches lying on the ground from the wind that I will cut down to size and try.
