Front Door Refinishing Project

This was a tricky job, because the door is fiberglass and the side panels are wood. All needed to be re-done. I researched how to do it on the website for the door manufacturer. The home owner and I were quite pleased with the result.

Do you have directions posted anywhere?

Thanks for asking! No-I don't have instructions posted anywhere. The door is fiberglass, with wood side panels. I researched the instructions for finishing the door from an unfinished state, and adapted them to a finished door that needed refurbishing. I used stripper to manually strip the finish, then hand sanded the entire door and side panels, so it would be uniform in appearance when finished. I had purchased a refinishing kit from the company that made the door, and followed their instructions. It consisted of a base conditioner, stain and sealer. I finished the wood areas with wood stain to match the door stain. The whole project probably took 30-37 hrs.
